1/2 term goings on…

This 1/2 term seems to have come around very quickly – I think perhaps because the chicks spent so much time off school because of the snow. We're still getting the odd little flurry of snow but at the moment it's raining wet wet wet which has rather curtailed our 1/2 term outdoor plans. We've finally caught up on the films that we wanted to watch. We'd planned to see Avatar in the Christmas holidays but that was postponed due to snow – what a fab film, we saw that yesterday on Orange Wednesday. Now, we don't normally view two films per half term but…we were catching up so on Cheap Tuesday we went to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief – terrific! We thoroughly enjoyed it and there were some familiar male faces in it – Dr. Owen from Grey's Anatomy, Pierce Brosnan and Sean Bean – what a cast!

In between the films, we've had the Wii Fit going, watched some Olympics, stitched (me!) and read (me and Catherine). Tonight we've got a sleepover going on. I've been reading the Stephanie Plum books rather obsessively…I'm going to be rather sad when I'm up to date with them, they've really made me laugh.

On the stitching front, I finished off the last January stocking at the weekend and have since stitched the first February stocking…that one is my new favourite. My Little Heart is completed for Jan and Feb and quite a lot of the border and boxes too. I bought a couple of lovely little charts from iStitch the other morning…I need to squeeze those in somewhere along the way. Also, the Gift of Stitching is starting a Hardanger series…now I have always wanted to have a go at that so I shall be gathering supplies shortly 🙂 I should really think about giving up on some sleep time I think, lol!

Nothing happening on the quilting front at the moment, I'll be getting back to some of that after the holidays I think. I'm itching to make the Snowbound block and to start on the Floribunda applique block from Erin Russek. It's taken me a little while to get the bits together for that one as I had to send to the States for heatproof template plastic and it only arrived this week. I received a lovely letter this morning letting me know that there's a space for me at one of the local guild meetings from April so I'm looking forward to attending that and meeting up with some local quilters.

Lots of lovely things to make…I'd better get my needle flying, the second February stocking is underway and I've set myself a little deadline to have these completed before the end of the month.

Almost forgot the little pics of My Little Heart for Jan and Feb…this is a lovely quick stitch once the borders/boxes are done.

oops – they turned out a bit bigger than I though, lol!

They’re all gorgeous but I particularly love that second stocking. It’s so pretty!
You’re almost making me want to finish that crosstitch hedgehog that I started in 2000…
I’m seriously considering those Stephanie Plum books. You’re not the only person to be singing their praises and you know I’m so easily swayed when it comes to books 😉

Hi Theresa – Lovely to ‘see ‘ you over at my blog. Your stitching is gorgeous – I love all your little BBD stockings, especially the violets one, it’s so pretty. Your quilting all looks lovely, one day I want to learn to needleturn applique properly. Hope your weather situation improves soon, we have had a mixed up summer in the south of NZ, the first half was constant rain, and now since the middle of January it has been lovely and hot. Long may that last! Will be back to visit again soon. Nicky
