My oldest cat, Minnie, died yesterday morning. I'd been expecting it for a while but when it came to it, it was still devastating – I was glad to be with her at the end. She'd been my friend for 18 years, through some very tough times and some very happy times. I can't manage to look at photos of her just yet, she was a beautiful lilac Burmese with a very quirky personality. She had a fondness for all things spicy and was often to be found walking around carrying a pair of socks in her mouth.
It's just me and Molly in the sewing room now and we're trying to keep cheerful and looking forward to chicken for tea (Molly) and the postman arriving (hopefully tomorrow) with EQ7 and the first part of Scandinavian Christmas (Me).
I am sorry Tree. I was just the same when I lost my two.
Such sad news Theresa, I’m so sorry for your loss, it’s always really tough to loose a loved furry friend. Huge hugs to you & Molly. G xox
So sorry to hear your sad news Tree, they’re such a big part of your family aren’t they? xx
So sorry about your loss! 18 years of friendship is a very long time. xo
I’m so sorry — it is very hard to lose a beloved furry member of the family, no matter whether you’ve been expecting it or not.
So sorry to hear of your loss…they are a part of us…I have a lilac too!
Oh Tree, I’m so sorry. It’s such a difficult and sad loss to deal with. 18 years is an amazing time to have had Minnie in your lives and I hope you will soon be able to remember the memories fondly and without too much heartache.
I cried bitterly when I buried my cat Albert beneath an Elder tree in the garden – it’s an East Anglian tradition and is meant to keep away evil spirits. So far, Albert has succeeded. I buried him swathed in my best white shirt with a tin of Whiskas to see him into the after-life.
Best wishes, Edward Wilson
So sorry to hear your sad news, it’s always hard to say goodbye when the time comes. Hugs, Nicky
